Indianapolis, Ind., June, 27, 2016 – Conexus Indiana announced today that Mark DeFabis has been named the new chairman of the Conexus Indiana Logistics Council (CILC), replacing former chairman Chip Edgington, who has been named chairman of the Conexus Indiana Board of Directors.
Conexus Indiana also appointed Nick Hoagland, COO of Backhaul Direct LLC, as the new vice chair of CILC, replacing Cathy Langham who is the new chair of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP).
DeFabis is CEO of Integrated Distribution Services Inc. (IDS), headquartered in Plainfield, Ind. The company provides integrated logistics services with specialties in retail and direct-to-consumer fulfillment and transportation management. In addition to its Plainfield location, IDS has a facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“Mark brings a wealth of logistics experience and knowledge of the industry and its needs to this position,” said David Holt, Conexus Indiana vice president of operations and business development. “He is a founding member in Conexus’s logistics efforts, both as a member of CILC and as chairman of the Central Regional Logistics Council.”
DeFabis also serves on the government affairs committee of the International Warehouse Logistics Association, and is vice chairman of its board of directors. He is vice president and a member of the board of directors of the Indianapolis Boiler Business Exchange.
Prior to entering the logistics industry, DeFabis worked in the public sector as administrator of economic and housing development for the City of Indianapolis, and as president of the Indianapolis Economic Development Corporation.
He is a graduate of Purdue University and the Indiana University School of Law.
Hoagland has been a long-time member of CILC, focusing much of his recent efforts on talent development efforts as chair of CILC’s Workforce Development Task Force. Through his leadership, CILC has sponsored successful college campus and industry events, which have exposed postsecondary school students to career opportunities in the field of logistics and provided unprecedented networking sessions with statewide CEO-level logistics executives.
At Backhaul Direct, a 3rd party logistics broker based in downtown Indianapolis, Hoagland leads a team in the management of company operations, finance, legal, IT, human resources, and business analytics.
The Conexus Indiana Logistics Council is a 55-member, industry-driven council that guides strategies to support the continued growth of Indiana’s logistics industry.
